Are you thinking about getting contact lenses for the first time? Or perhaps you need to purchase new contact lenses and do not have a current contact lens prescription. In either of these cases, you will want to make sure that you come to our vision practice, Joseph Eng, OD, so that you will be able to have a complete contact lens exam and fitting. Patients enjoy our one-stop shopping where they can have a complete contact lens exam and then purchase Sunset Park contacts while under the same roof.

At our vision office, our expert optometrists are Dr. Joseph K. Eng and Dr. Esther H. Tan. Our optometrist can provide you with either a comprehensive eye exam or a contact lens exam and fitting. During a contact lens exam, your eyes will be tested for their visual acuity, and then they will be screened for any eye diseases or disorders. During the course of the exam your eyes will also have certain measurements taken, and our optometrist will determine which the best type of contact lens for you to wear is. When your eyes are tested for refractive errors, our eye doctor will be able to determine if you are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism. Today even patients with astigmatism or dry eye are able to comfortably wear Sunset Park contacts for great vision correction.

Our eye doctors will also screen your eyes for many different eye diseases and disorders. During the course of the exam your eyes will be screened for: glaucoma; diabetic retinopathy; cataracts; dry eyes; macular degeneration; retinal tears; and other problems of the cornea, macula, and retina. Our optometrist will also measure the curvature of your cornea and the size of your iris. It is important that Sunset Park contacts fit you perfectly, or else they can actually damage your cornea with repeated wear. In fact, some sizing information is also included as part of your contact lens prescription. Our optometrist will then discuss with you the best type of contact lens for you to wear. At our practice we offer any different contact lenses for purchase including lenses by Alcon and Bausch + Lomb. Today most patients are able to wear soft contact lenses. Soft contacts can come in several different types including: disposable wear lenses; extended wear lenses; daily wear lenses, and color changing lenses that can make it appear as the color of your eyes have changed. Choosing the contact lenses that are right for you depends on your vision and comfort. In fact, contact lenses may not be for you at all, and you may prefer to wear prescription eyeglasses only. However, at the optometry office of Joseph Eng, OD, our optometrists have been fitting specialty Sunset Park contacts lens for years and have seen some incredible changes in that time. It is very important that your contact lenses are fitted correctly based on your prescription, eye shape, and specific needs. With many different styles to choose from, it is best to inform yourself with the various advantages and disadvantages of contact lenses before you make your final decision.

Rigid or hard contact lenses, also called gas-permeable lenses, are a shrinking segment of the industry, but our optometrists still have a large number of patients who wear them. They offer sharper vision and can correct nearsightedness or astigmatism. However, hard contact lenses take longer to adjust to than soft contact lenses. Soft contact lenses are the most frequently prescribed due to their tremendous comfort, and are now available for patients with astigmatism and dry eyes. But there are many different options of Sunset Park contact lenses to choose from. There are daily wear lenses, which can be worn up to 18 hours but must be removed at night. Conversely, there are extended wear lenses which can be worn overnight. Unlike either of these two types, however, are disposable lenses which are worn for only one day at a time and are then discarded. Color-changing lens which, as the name suggests, change the color of your iris, are also an option, even if vision correction is not required. Soft lenses are also now available for patients with astigmatism and for patients who require multifocal lenses, which used to only be offered in hard contact lenses.

So if you prefer hard or soft, extended wear or daily disposable, it is important to first consult our optometrists on which style of Sunset Park contacts lenses are best suited for your particular prescription, eye shape, and specific needs. At the office of Joseph Eng, OD, we’ll be sure to make sure all your prescription eye care needs and expectations are met and exceeded.

Maybe you need glasses. Is your vision blurry? Perhaps you have headaches from straining your eyes or you are squinting a lot when trying to see something far away. Our Sunset Park vision care is committed to helping you see your very best. And with an eye exam, Dr. Eng can determine if you might benefit from eyeglasses.

Nearsightedness and farsightedness are common vision issues, both of which can be corrected easily with glasses from our Sunset Park vision care. The same goes for astigmatism. Or perhaps you have two or even all three. If so, no problem. We have bifocal and multi-focal lenses, as well as single vision. An eye exam consists of various tests including reading from an eye chart, a refraction test, and gauging your peripheral (side-to-side) eyesight. Even if you already wear eyeglasses, you might be able to benefit from an updated prescription. One that is no longer meeting your current vision needs is of little use. And in some cases, such as when you need glasses for driving, it can be dangerous to use a prescription that is outdated.

The optical department of our Sunset Park vision care will fill your prescription promptly and accurately. We carry all kinds of lenses including polycarbonate (which resist scratching and breakage), anti-glare, and high index, which give you the benefit of thinner lenses even for stronger prescriptions. We also have progressive lenses, giving you all the advantages of bifocals but without the unsightly line across it. In addition, progressive lenses give you truer multi-focal vision, with significant improvement between near and far.

And we will also help you to select a pair of great-looking designer frames to put them in. No matter what your taste is, we have something that you’re going to love. We have frames to suit every budget, every facial shape, and every skin tone. Select form well-known and trusted names that include J. Lo, Sofia Loren, and Randy Jackson among others. The only hard task might be narrowing down your choice to just one. Our Sunset Park vision care also provides free lifetime adjustments for your glasses. Call us today and schedule your eye exam to get the ball rolling.
